INTERNATIONAL ENE
RGY 2030 CONFERENCE

2006 Conference2008 Conference

Following on from the success of the First International Energy 2030 Conference in 2006, the Second Energy 2030 Conference was held on November 4-5, 2008, in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), U.A.E. This event was organized by The Petroleum Institute and the University of Maryland, College Park, U.S.A., with active participation of other affiliate institutes and sponsoring companies.

The primary objective of the Energy 2030 Conferences was to share views and information that can serve critically useful to the strategic planning of Research and Development in the Oil and Gas and broader Energy areas. The Technical Programs included a series of Invited Key Note Talks by top experts and scholars from around the world. These experts expressed their views on current and emerging Energy Resources and Technologies that are likely to serve as critically important contributors to the Energy supply in various sectors twenty two years from now. The resources and technologies discussed spanned fossil and alternative fuels (e.g., hydrogen, methanol and ethanol), energy from waste and biomass, solar and nuclear energy, as well as energy efficiency and environmental initiatives. Energy economics and the security of energy supply were also discussed.

In parallel with Invited Talks, Poster Exhibitions were also held on topical areas including: oil and gas exploration, production, and economics; natural gas processing and treatment; energy utilization, efficiency, sustainability and recovery; fuel cell technologies; solar energy utilization; biomass fuel production; monitoring and industrial applications; and environmental initiatives.

Formal conference proceedings have been published in both 2006 and 2008, with selected papers subsequently published in the journal Applied Energy published by Elsevier. This website contains all papers published in the conference proceedings and are made available to encourage dissemination of information and discussion on energy topics.
